Snowboard Jumps at Snowboard Manufacturers: The Radical Difference
For starters, all jumps will look big.
This is where my favorite jumping category comes in handy: flanking. A side impact occurs when your standard piste has a small ledge (perhaps a foot or two high) on which you can ride to get up or down a neat pistol (piste). Flanks tend to form naturally and often have the added benefit of causing soft snow. Nothing beats a padded landing!
How to jump correctly and safely
As mentioned above, jump sizes for snowboards are not standardized. They can range from small bumps that give you a little lift to crazy XL jumps that send you flying into the air.
Therefore, you should handle each jump differently, with due consideration. It's easier and less potentially dangerous to board a boat on a small jump than a big one.
Either way, observe others before experimenting. Before trying it yourself, see how other skiers handle the jump. Observation will help you determine which parts of the jump are the most difficult:
