NFL training camps are officially underway, and EA has kicked off its Madden NFL 23 ratings week. Many positions are being revealed, and Defensive Tackles are next up to join the conversation.
Defensive tackles line up along the interior of the defensive line next to the defensive ends. These players are typically some of the biggest and strongest players on the team. This is because they need to make it difficult for offensive linemen to move them and prevent running backs from getting easy runs up the middle. As a result, no team in Madden NFL 23 would be complete without a quality defensive tackle shoring up the interior. Without further ado, here are the top 50 defensive tackles in Madden NFL 23.

We've got some familiar favorites at the top, as Vita Vea comes off another year, proving his skill to take the top Defensive Tackle ranking. Vita Vea's numbers may not show it, but he is an invaluable piece of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense. The former Washington standout has been making waves for himself, especially during last season, wherein he had 22 solo tackles and four sacks. With him in place, it will be tough for any quarterback to be at ease, especially when he gets a clear release from the line of scrimmage. If you want to use him in Madden 23 Ultimate Team, please prepare some mut 23 coins in advance.
Allen finished with a 92 overall rating, which was good for the No. 2 defensive tackle behind Vita Vea — who scored a 93. The 2021 season was a banner one for Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. Just before training camp opened last July, Allen signed a four-year, $72 million extension and had the best season of his NFL career. Allen recorded 62 tackles, including 10 for loss, nine sacks and 30 quarterback hits. He earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl after the season. Not only has Allen earned the respect of his peers, but he’s also received the respect from Madden NFL 23.
Among the top interior defensive tackle in Madden 23, Chris Jones checks in at No. 3 with an overall rating of 91. Jones, a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion was a second-team All-Pro for the second consecutive year last season and recorded nine sacks in 14 games. The 2016 second-round pick also had five passes broken up, eight tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hits and 27 combined tackles. For his efforts in the 2021 season, Jones posted a composite Pro Football Focus grade of 82.8. So he is among some elite companies atop the leaderboards in this year's game.
Buckner might be the most complete player on this list. Since being traded to the Colts in 2020, Buckner has been a consistently disruptive force for their defensive line. In the past four seasons, Buckner has produced at least seven sacks, 58 tackles and nine tackles for loss. While the All-Pro did slide one spot from his previous No. 3 ranking, there’s no question that Buckner remains one of the best players at his position in the NFL.
