It was initially known as "Ankada Jugar" and involved betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton sent to the Bombay Cotton Exchange from the New York Cotton Exchange. Over time, the game evolved and started involving numbers instead of cotton rates. It became increasingly popular and spread across the country, with various people and groups running their own versions of the game.
